Étienne is currently the coordinator of the Ouellet-Robert entomological collection at the University of Montreal and heads the Identification and Expertise Service in Entomology at the Institute for Research in Plant Biology.
His master’s degree, co-supervised at Laval and McGill universities, focused on urban bee diversity.
In 2010, he founded AnimaNature, a company dedicated to the popularization of entomology and developed entomophagia workshops in nature with Gourmet Sauvage. He is Vice-President of the Association des entomologistes amateurs du Québec, director general of the Société d´entomologie du Quebec and regional director of the Société d´entomologie du Canada. He started breeding insects for human consumption at Ferme d’Insectes in 2015 and at Mirdo in 2017.
